Best Strawberry Matcha Latte

Ingredients

For the Strawberry Compote:
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen strawberries
  • 2–3 tsp agave
For the Matcha:
  • 2–3 tsp matcha
  • ½ cup hot water
  • 1½–2 cups unsweetened almond milk (or oat for a richer texture)

Instructions

1. Make the Strawberry Compote. Add the strawberries to a small saucepan over low heat. Cook for 15  minutes, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries soften and release their juices. Lightly mash with the back of a spoon and continue cooking until slightly thickened. Remove from heat, add agave to taste and let cool for a few minutes. Blend until smooth and thick. You want a pourable but rich sauce — not watery. If needed, simmer a little longer to reduce. Let cool completely before assembling.

2. Prepare the Matcha. In a small bowl, sift the matcha to prevent clumps. Add the hot water and whisk in a zig-zag motion until smooth and frothy.

3. Assemble. Spoon 3 tablespoons of the strawberry sauce into the bottom of a glass. Add ice, then pour milk over the ice, leaving room at the top. Slowly pour the whisked matcha over the milk to create a layered effect.

Stir before drinking. Enjoy!
